Features of the Mason Cash Steam Pudding Bowls:
The Rim: Once a pudding mixture is packed into a bowl, it needs to be sealed by tying a lid (usually made from greaseproof paper and foil), around the rim before steaming. A handle must also be tied to this lid, and the protruding rim of the Mason Cash bowls allow the lid to be tied and maintained throughout the steaming process and whilst being lifted in and out of a steamer.

The Body Shape: The rounded, smooth shape of the bowls five puddings their distinct shape, but the shape also allows for an easy release after being steamed for several hours.

The Vented Base: When a bowl is placed into a steamer or pan of simmering water, air bubbles will form underneath it as the temperature reaches boiling point. These bubbles or pockets will find the easiest route to escape, usually straight up, which can cause some bowls to tip; inside the steamer. The Mason Cash Pudding Bowl features 3 vents in each base which allow trapped bubbles to escape when steaming, elminating any need for a trivet or saucer to be placed in the pot beforehand.
